Growing Guide

1. Soil Preparation: Use well-draining, fertile soil mixed with compost or well-rotted organic manure. A pH range of 6.0–7.5 works best.
2. Sowing: Sow seeds directly into soil or grow bags at a depth of 1–1.5 cm, slightly deeper than fine keerai seeds since Palak seeds are larger.
3. Spacing: Maintain 8–10 cm spacing between plants, or thin rows after germination for healthy leaf development.
4. Watering: Water lightly every day to keep soil moist until germination, then water every 2–3 days, avoiding waterlogging.
5. Sunlight: Grows best with 4–6 hours of sunlight; performs well in slightly cooler, partially shaded conditions too.
6. Thinning: Once seedlings reach 5–7 cm, thin them out to give remaining plants room to develop fuller leaves.
7. Fertilizing: Apply organic compost or diluted liquid fertilizer once every 2 weeks to support lush, dark-green leaf growth.
8. Pest Management: Watch for leaf miners and aphids. Use neem oil spray as a natural, safe control method.
9. Harvesting: Ready to harvest in 30–35 days. Pick outer leaves individually or cut the whole plant 2–3 cm above soil level for regrowth.
10. Succession Planting: Sow a fresh batch every 15–20 days during the cool season for a continuous supply of tender spinach.
